WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR LIVE CASTING OR ALGINATE MOULD SCULPTURE APPOINTMENT AT VERUSKA GUÁNCHEZ ART STUDIO?
At Veruska Guánchez Art Studio, we specialise in crafting bespoke, hand-finished sculptures that capture the essence of life’s most precious moments. Here’s what you can expect when you book a casting session with us, whether it’s to preserve your newborn’s tiny features or to create a meaningful family heirloom.
PERSONALISED CONSULTATION
Before your appointment, we’ll arrange a brief consultation to discuss your vision, preferences, and any specific ideas you have in mind. This allows us to plan a session that’s uniquely tailored to you, whether you're interested in a delicate baby hand cast or an intricate family sculpture.
PREPARING FOR THE EXPERIENCE
Upon arrival at Veruska Guánchez Art Studio, we prioritise making everyone feel welcome and at ease. For babies, we recommend feeding them just before the session to help keep them calm and comfortable. Our warm and patient approach ensures a gentle experience for all, from the tiniest newborn to families of all ages.
THE CASTING PROCESS WITH SAFE ALGINATE
We use a high-quality, non-toxic alginate, perfectly safe for babies, children, and adults. The alginate is mixed and applied carefully to the hand, foot, or other body parts you'd like to capture. It feels cool and soft against the skin and requires just a few moments to set. During this time, we work calmly and gently, helping to keep little ones engaged and at ease.
REMOVING THE MOULD AND COMPLETING THE CAST
Once the alginate has set, we carefully remove it, revealing a detailed mould. This mould will serve as the base for your final cast. We take a close look to ensure every detail has been captured with precision before moving on.
